Way of Life

Description

Way of Life is a cassette-only album by the American singer and songwriter Skatman Meredith (a.k.a. David Meredith), self-released in 1989. The album was recorded at Target Studios in Newark, Delaware; with Mark Moss and Skatman Meredith producing.

Featuring Skatman Meredith on vocals and guitars and Mark Moss on keyboards and bass, with Bob (Mr. Kapo) Kaphan sitting in on guitar and backing vocals on track B3 and Laura Ludwig providing backing vocals on track A2.

If you paid attention to alternative/Americana music in the late 90s, Skatman Meredith might be a familiar name to you. He released a trio of albums on Silent Planet Records in that time frame. This tape was probably his first solo release after spending times in various local bands. He is often labeled as folk, with is a good general description – but he also likes to rock out as well as combine alternative and Americana influences as well. He seems to be active today as well, with an up to date website that contains many of his releases. After this he released an album in 1991 called Hope For Us and then a few years later appeared on some Dwarf Records compilations. Some sources even list his 1996 self-titled debut CD as a Dwarf Records release before being picked up by Silent Planet Records. «See the World Thru My Eyes», «Obedience», and «Sally Smith» were re-recorded on that 1996 release. «Wrecking Ball» was re-recorded for 1991’s The Garden.
