Praise Seven

Description

Praise Seven is a multi-artist compilation released on Maranatha! Music in 1984, distributed by Word. It is the seventh album of an ongoing series of praise and worship compilations known as The Praise Series, recorded by The Maranatha Singers. The album was recorded and mixed by Chris Taylor at Whitefield Studios in Santa Ana, California; with Tom Coomes of Love Song fame producing. Arranged by Harlan Rogers of Koinonia fame and Stan Endicott.

Continuing a fine tradition is Maranatha! Music’s popular ‘Praise’ series. When I played ‘Seven’ for some older friends, their response was, “I didn’t know they still made music like this anymore.” Well, they do, and they do it well at Maranatha! Music’s studio in Costa Mesa, California.

‘Praise Seven’ varies little from ‘Praise’ predecessors, with some discrete drums and synthesizers added for color. It’s still the same mixture of lush orchestrations and choral vocals using Bible passages as texts. Arranger Harlan Rogers keeps it from sounding like bland “elevator music.” For worship background music, ‘Praise Seven’ will soohte your soul. [Bob Darden, CCM, February 1985]
