Description
The self-titled album by the British Celtic folk-rock band The Electrics was released on SaraBellum Records in 1997, a division of 5 Minute Walk Records, distributed in the US by Warner Christian Distribution. The album was produced and recorded by Masaki Liu of Dime Store Prophets fame at Ted’s Place in Jamestown, Scotland. Mixed by Liu at his One Way Studios in Concord, California. All songs written by band member Sammy Horner except track 5 written by Sam Hill, and tracks 10 and 13 written by Allan Hewitt, as well as the trad. tune “Irish Rover”, arranged by Horner. Re-recorded for the USA market, The Electrics is a ‘best of’ previous European releases.
The Electrics are Sammy Horner on vocals, Paul Baird on guitars and background vocals, and David McArthur on drums.
5 Minute Walk/Sara Bellum Records, one of America’s best indies, have finally introduced The Great American Public, once seemingly deaf to all the myriad of British grassroots CCM talent, to The Electrics, who since Word’s release of ‘Vision And Dreams’ back in 1991 have been exploring a rich musical seam by fusing rollicking jigs and reels of Celtic folk music to good ol’ rock ‘n’ roll. In Sammy Horner they have of course one of the wittiest yet insightful communicators in Christendom and the honorary Scotsman (Sammy is, of course, Belfast-born) takes us here on an exuberant romp through many of the glorious moments of the band’s three previous albums. For this is in a sense a ‘Best of.’ with the classics («Back Of Your Head», «The Blessing», etc) re-recorded with zing and zip. The new versions are great too.
