Description
Four Months of Darkness is the sophomore album by the American experimental post rock band Saxon Shore, released on Burnt Toast Vinyl/Broken Factory in 2003, distributed by Redeye Distribution. The album was produced, recorded, and mixed during November 2002 and January 2003 by Jamie Bozeman of Luxury fame at West Buliding in Georgia.
After a year of three regional and one national tour, featuring a revolving door of membership, Saxon Shore recorded Four Months of Darkness at home (upstate NY) and with Georgia’s Jamie Bozeman. With original members Matthew Doty (guitar, piano) and Joshua Tillman (drums) living in upstate NY and Seattle, WA respectively, the songwriting process became an exchange of 4-track demos. After the release of this album the band set out for over one hundred and sixty shows in support. This record built on the minimal, melodic accessibility of their first release, ‘Be a Bright Blue’, allowing meandering song structure and brooding tension throughout the unsettled beauty of its instrumental tale of struggling duality.
