Description
The self-titled, sole album by the American alternative rock band Quiet City was released on Salt Incorporated Music in 1995, distributed by Benson Music Distribution. The album was recorded between December 20, 1994 and February 17, 1995 by Brian “Trigger” Hale, assisted by band member Sparquis, at Samurai Studios, with Sparquis and the band producing.
Quiet City features Michael Reiser on keyboards and lead vocals; Sparquis on guitar and vocals; Monty Anderson on bass; and Brandon Sensintaffar on drums.
Salt Inc Music are surely the most musically consistent of all America’s independent labels, seemingly every release bringing something fresh and creative into the exceedingly crowded US CCM arena. Quiet City hail from Glenpool, Oklahoma (where?) and rather wonderful they are too. They concoct aural soundscapes which evoke hints of U2 and Peter Gabriel yet never resort to imitation while the wall of sound on the eery «Fly» or the radio friendly «Touch Tomorrow» are listening experiences that will draw a discerning rock buff back again and again. Lead singer Michael Reiser is distinctive while the lyrics, though a tad arty for instant accessibility, go way beyond simple evangelical sloganeering. If your tastes veer towards the more progressive vistas of rock these four guys will deliver the goods to your stereo. [Tony Cummings, Cross Rhythms, October 1996]
