Description
Prophecy is the solo debut album by the British pop/R&B artist Priscilla Jones of Nu Colours (and Jones & Co) fame, independently released in 2007, marketed by Dandelion Music. The album was produced by Nicky Brown.
UK gospel music enthusiasts will remember Jones & Co from Wolverhampton; Priscilla is the one of those very same Jones’ and was a teenager at the time, but I remember the excitement about their early recordings, they were being touted as a hot family band. Since those early days Priscilla has been singing with Robbie Williams, Jocelyn Brown, Tom Jones, Eric Clapton, Spice Girls, Lighthouse Family, Craig David, Will Young, Boyzone, Westlife and Chaka Khan, to name just a few. So it’s a delight to see her releasing a solo gospel CD. It’s everything I expected and more. The opening track «Joy» has melody, feel and groove with a beautiful middle eight. Priscilla is gifted in a number of areas: songwriting, production, performing, singing. Nicky Brown, who Priscilla worked with on M People’s highly acclaimed albums, has brought his own creative flair to the songs, Nicky helped produce and write some of the songs. The musicianship is tight, artistic and punchy. These songs deserve to be heard by the same kind of large audience who listen to Priscilla singing on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. I don’t see why they shouldn’t be, they are commercial without being trite and accessible without being shallow. [Paul Poulton, Cross Rhythms, April 2007]
