Priesthood – Keepin’ It Real

Description

Keepin’ It Real is the sophomore album by the American hip-hop group Priesthood, released on Metro One in 2001. Also manufactured and distributed by Epic, a division of Sony Music. The album was produced by Jyro Xhan of Fold Zandura and Mortal fame and Swift.

Their previous album, peppered with CCM guests, was a hig hit on Cross Rhythms radio. Now here’s the overdue followup. Priesthood are a three man outfit who are a bit different from the norm what with their distinctive mellow pop-style groove and overall acoustic feel. If you like your rap serene, then this is a safe choice, yet still retaining a relevant message. Standouts include the well crafted «Thinkin’ About You» and «Take Me Away» hittin’ the mark on an acoustic gosp/soul tip. Well worth the listenin’. [T A Sutherland, Cross Rhythms, November 2001]
