Sacred Desires is the sophomore album by the American singer and songwriter Mo Leverett, released on Storyville Records in 1995, a division of R.E.X. Music. The album was produced and arranged by Greg Doles. All songs written by Mo Leverett.

This sophomore release of original songs is an interesting fusion of folk, blues, country and rock. Leverett maintains a full-time ministry as a football coach in New Orleans’ Desire, the second largest housing project in the United States. These songs reflect the despair, violence and harshness of Desire life, yet have the hope of the gospel woven throughout.

Though not a brilliant lyricist, Leverett nonetheless writes from the heart. Two of the songs on the album are dedicated to the children of Desire, the children about whom he seems to care deeply.

Leverett draws frequently on the social implications of the gospel; in «Through Streets of Mankind», he sings of Christ: “You bandaged the wounds of harlots/ And widows overcome/ You tended the homes of orphans/ In dark city slums.”

Cut from a similar vein as the work of the critically acclaimed Rick Elias, ‘Sacred Desires’ offers pleasant guitar work (including guest appearances by mainstream artist Pierce Pettis), soulful and gutsy vocals throughout, and a gorgeous violin solo in the mournful «Another Child». A pleasant departure from the “wonderful Christian life” pabulum to which contemporary Christian music is often prone, ‘Sacred Desires’ is both sobering and insightful.
