Joy in the Journey: 10 Years of Greatest Hits is a compilation album by the American singer and songwriter Michael Card, released on Sparrow Records in ‎1994. The compilation features 18 tracks including one new song as well as new recordings of three Card classics.

Smitty isn’t the only one in the Music City to be celebrating 10 years of musical success. ‘Joy in the Journey’ is a celebration of some of Card’s greatest works, with four new recordings unique to this collection.

«Chorus of Faith», an all new Card/Phil Naish tune, occupies the first position of the project. It’s solid, up-beat tempo sets up the re-recording of three Card classics tuned-up for a more adult contemporary sound. Usually toying with a classic like «El Shaddai» would be musically sacrilegious; not this time. The Dann Huff acoustic guitar breathes new life into this tune. «Why» is musically bolder than the original, utilizing uillean pipes to set the ambiance of the song. The finest tuning went into «Come to the Table» – on one hand it is stripped down from the original, but aggressive guitar work though leads into a musically brazen remake, complementing Card’s bold vocals which implore the listener to approach the sacrament. Naish offers just enough soulful organ-sounds to give a hint of gospel flavor to the piece.

The remaining material is a litany of the life of faith in God that has been enjoyed in other albums yet brings renewed interest within the context of this project. Still, the release is more than just an acknowledgement of what Card has brought to Christian music. It is Card’s witness to what God has done for the community of faith.
