Deep Pools of Light is a full-length album by the British electronic pop group Meeker, released in the UK on Soundology in 2004.
Featuring Tom E. Morrison on guitars, bass, keyboards, as well as programming, with Rachel Morrison providing vocals.
Meeker have already clocked up hits in the UK’s dance charts but they’re far, far more than some anonymous creation of a bloke with a sampler. They have in Rachel Morrison a bluesy soul sistah one moment, a wistful, little-girl-lost the next, while Tom E Morrison’s scratchy guitar riffs come on like a modern day version of James Brown’s Jimmy Nolen. The tracks here range from poppy, undulating swayers like the kind of thing DBA occasionally give us to relentless Underworld-esque club beats of rhythmic power. Standouts include the compulsive «Let’s Come Together» and the wickedly guitar propelled «Save Me» while those looking for more authentic chillout music than that heard on those anaemic Kingsway albums should investigate «Mercy».
