Kristene DiMarco – Safe Place

Description

Safe Place is the sophomore album by the American singer, songwriter, and worship leader Kristene DiMarco, released on Jesus Culture Music in 2012. The album was recorded by Jeremy Edwardson, assisted by Andrew Jackson, at The Soundhouse in Redding, California; with Jonathan Berlin and Edwardson producing. Mixed by Jeremy Griffith. All songs written by Kristene Mueller.

Kristene’s ‘Those Who Dream‘ album of 2008 released under the name Kristene Mueller was a gem and the track «Saint Frances» became a major Cross Rhythms turntable hit. Now the lady, known for her work with Californian collective Jesus Culture, returns with an equally breathtaking album and all the critics seem to be agreed that this is a potential classic with one reviewer describing it as “acoustic creative folk rock” and another saying “this is a rather off-the-radar album.” Certainly, as well as songs of Jesus-centred adoration there are numbers here which explore topics seldom examined by the believing songsmith. «Paint Me A Picture» for instance is a song about the act of creating while «A Lonely Carpenter» imagines the conversations that Jesus might have had with the Father in the wilderness. Recently a non-Christian reviewer said that the album reminded them of Sixpence None The Richer or Britain’s Eliza Doolittle. Whatever the journalistic struggles to pigeonhole Kristene, one this is certain, she is an exceptional talent and whether singing with a choir or with a simple acoustic guitar, the effect is never less than mesmerising.
