Description
Live from the Strip is a live album by the American singer and songwriter Kate Miner (a.k.a. Pam Dwinell), released on Sovereign Productions in 1999. The album was recorded and mixed by Tom Lilo, engineered by Scott Peets assisted by Jeff Keese, with David Miner producing.
Live from the Strip was recorded at the Roxy Theater in Hollywood, California, featuring Kate Miner on vocals and acoustic guitar, Derri Daugherty (of The Choir fame) and Ron Aniello on electric guitars, as well as a rhythm section consisting of David Miner on bass and Walter Rodriguez on drums and percussion.
I’d heard Kate Miner’s gentle folksy contributions to the beautiful and innovative ‘At The Foot Of The Cross’ Vol 1 project, where she duets with the likes of Mark Heard and Derald Daugherty, but this present album came as a wonderful surprise. Just when I thought worship albums couldn’t get much better than ones I’ve heard lately, they do! Recorded live at the Roxy Theatre on Hollywood’s ‘Strip’, this momentous set showcases in main the songwriting team-work of Ms Miner and Judie Lawson, and the production efforts of husband David Miner. Kate and Dave work as worship pastors at the Malibu Vineyard Christian Fellowship in California where Kate leads Sunday worship. Such experience is clearly evident on this stunning performance where she loses herself in heart-soaring worship. The songs are fairly basic with wonderfully catchy choruses, which virtually compel you to participate. But it’s Kate’s unique and skilful employment of the material which grabs you most. With her voice soulful and passionate, she turns every line into a powerful worship experience, enhanced by strong backing on percussion and electric guitar from the support band. A remarkable album, totally captivating. [Tom Lennie, Cross Rhythms, April 2000]
