Love Education is the seventh studio album by the American R&B/soul singer and songwriter Jon Gibson, released by Gibson’s New Soul for Brainstorm Artists International in 1994. The album was recorded and mixed by Gene Eugene of Adam Again fame at The Green Room in Huntington Beach, California; with Jon Gibson producing and arranging.
The long awaited follow up to ‘Forever Friends‘ finally arrived from one of Christian music’s most underestimated artists, Jon Gibson. Complete with a new label and vision, Gibson puts forth his strongest effort yet in the self-produced ‘Love Education’ on his newly formed New Soul, via Brainstorm Artists International (BAI).
Utilizing his unique knack to write incredibly hooky tunes, Gibson’s album is peppered with the new funk sounding tunes, «Possessed by Love», «So Blue» and «Trust in Me». A strong lyrical foundation provides soulful grooves for these tunes that are not to be outdone by the hip sounds of tracks «Someday Paradise» and «The Narrow Road» which capture the reggae sounds of the Caribbean.
Continuing on our education of love, Gibson brings us into probably some of the best cuts on the album «Jesus» and the title cut «Love Education». Well produced piano, drum loops and impeccably clean vocals, these songs demonstrate the true genius that Gibson is seldom acknowledged to possess. Another offering, «The Days Gone By», reminiscent of the classic «Friends in You», features well worked guitars surrounded by cleverly arranged vocals.
All in all, ‘Love Education’ is packed full of hooky tunes that compliments his entire range of works and shows off his zeal for the Lord through music. ‘Love Education’ scores an “A.” [Mark Adkison, CCM, May 1995]
