Gospel Gangstaz – All Mixed Up

Description

All Mixed Up is a remix album by the American hip-hop group Gospel Gangstaz, released on KMG Records ‎in 2000.

Gospel Gangstaz (aka Mr Solo, Tic Toe and Chilli Chill) appeared on the scene six years ago and have been one of the leaders of the hip hop genre. This is a compilation of their first two albums – ‘Gang Affiliated’ and ‘Do Or Die’. However, there is a difference of which other record companies should take note. There are 10 remixes and 60 mins worth of the Gangstaz, so you get your money’s worth. This is top drawer hip hop and the remixes of the songs I’ve heard («Do Or Die», «Gospel Gangsta Thang», «Y Cant Da Homiez» and «CMCs Meet OGGs») are completely different from the originals and have a fresh appeal. However, one question arises from listening to the album. How can these guys use the term “nigger” of their own race (although they aren’t alone in doing this, eg, Grapetree’s Prime Minister). All the more confusing is the hidden track «Whitey On The Moon» featuring EDL where the statement is made, “Don’t call me whitey, nigger”, “Don’t call me nigger, whitey”. But apart from this, KMG have a gem in this album and other record companies’ PLEASE take note. [Mark Sherwood, Cross Rhythms, August 2000]
