Acapella Hymns is an album by the American vocal group Glad, released on Benson in 1993, distributed by Benson Music Group. The album was produced by group members Ed Nalle.
Wonderful renditions of mainly standard hymns given (literally) breathtaking arrangements and precise technique. When reviewing First Call recently, I reported that secular acapella specialists in the USA are including the group in their catalogue on sheer merit. It’s the same only more so with Glad, they are highly rated by those who know. This recording has the edge on previous outings with extra ‘brightness’ and ‘presence’ making the old gems flash with new light. Personally, I can live without medleys where songs are wedged in back to back, but that’s a minor minus. Superb vocal work, a great sound. [Tony May, Cross Rhythms, April 1994]
