A Drummer Boy’s Christmas is an instrumental Christmas album by the American session percussionist Eric Darken, released on Warner Alliance in 1991, a gospel division of Warner Bros. Records. The album was produced by Eric Darken. According to the note printed on the back of the CD, “A Drummer Boy’s Christmas brings together the elements of pop, jazz, Latin and classical music into one truly fun Christmas recording. Enjoy!”
Darken is a well-respected session percussionist who has gathered some of Nashville’s “A-list” musicians, such as Gary Lunn, Mark Baldwin and Mark Hammond, to create a session packed with a rhythmic mixture of Latin, pop and jazz elements. Chris Rodriguez, know for his fretwork with Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith, contributes a stringing guitar solo and passionate vocal to «Holy Night». [Bruce A. Brown, CCM, November 1991]
