Description
Chair and Microphone, Vol. 1 is the fourth album the American praise & worship combo Enter the Worship Circle, independently released in the US on Worship Circle Records in 2004, distributed by Deep Music Distribution. The album was written, performered, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Ben Pasley of 100 Portraits at the Blue Renaissance Studios in Colorado Springs, Colorado; with Enter the Worship Circle producing.
The popular and influential acoustic worship series, which in the past has featured artists like Waterdeep and 100 Portraits continues. This time it’s really a one man effort by American singer/songwriter Ben Pasley who not only wrote and performed all the songs but also produced them too. As the title suggests every song on the album is nothing more than one vocal plus acoustic guitar accompaniment with each track being recorded in a single take sometimes with lyrics that were improvised as the track was recorded. On the downside the simplistic arrangements mean that in places the songs can tend to sound very much the same. But, this is more than offset by the fact that the songs are recorded whilst still fresh and full of passion to an extent that is incredibly rare. Stylistically this CD reminds me immensely of Brian Houston and early Bob Dylan and I would suggest that this is an absolute must for anybody who is a fan of either.
