David Fitzgerald – God is Love

Description

God is Love is the fourth instrumental album by the British saxophonist/flutist David Fitzgerald of Iona fame, released on ICC in 2004. The album was recorded at ICC Studios in Eastbourne, England.

Aaahh, woodwind. In the past I’ve been wary of instrumental albums. I mean, if I don’t want the vocals with a worship track I just pick up my Fender and pluck out the tunes, right? Wrong. In a single CD David Fitzgerald displays his famed instrumental virtuosity on the woodwind, accompanied by the talents of the likes of Neil Costello and his one-time Iona compatriots Nick Beggs on guitar and Terl Bryant on drums. From the soulful «Agnus Dei», through the high flying flutes and whistles on «No Scenes Of Stately Majesty» to the driving force of «I Could Sing», Fitzgerald delivers am instrumental delight, a cohesion of old classics and new favourites that would happily sit in anybody’s CD player.
