Anticipation is the third album by the American singer and songwriter Damita (Damita Haddon), released on Tyscot Records in July 2012, manufactured by Taseis Media Group.
With three albums under her belt, the musical output from US urban gospel star Damita Haddon keeps getting stronger as this tour de force of self-penned dance, gospel and R&B material shows. There is often a danger that faith-based artists simply offer up Christian versions of mainstream acts but Damita’s work is the real deal and could easily punch its weight in secular circles without watering down its bold Gospel message. As a result, this makes for incredibly important listening for its primary audience of teenage girls who will struggle to find a moral compass in the pop charts and the over-arching theme of perseverance in God comes across loud and clear in the radio friendly opener «Won’t Turn Back», the dancey «Praise U Now» and the tender «I Love You» which refuse to shy away from the thornier aspects of faith. Elsewhere, tracks such as «TTLO (Turn The Lights On)» and «Super She’ro» continue to encourage Damita’s target audience to buck the trend and be who God wants them to be. The likes of «Amazing God» and «Elevate Me» see the singer reference gospel and R&B influences respectively which adds even more variety to proceedings as well showcasing Damita’s exemplary talents as a vocalist, songwriter and a positive role model.
