Description

Atlas – Year One is a 6CD box-set featuring all tracks from the digital 6-EP series entitled Atlas: Year One by the American one-man project Sleeping at Last (a.k.a. singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ryan O’Neal), independently released on Sleeping At Last’s own label Asteroid B-612 in July 2014. As well released as a 3-vinyl set in October 2014 and repressed in April 2016 on randomly colored vinyl (every set featuring completely different and unique colors). The tracks were produced, arranged and engineered by Ryan O’Neal and mixed by John Goodmanson.

The Atlas: Year One series were released by Sleeping at Last from January 2013, through April 2014, across 6 thematic EPs – Darkness, Light, Space I, Space II, Land and Oceans. Each EP featuring a new painting by Geoff Benzing, and guest musical contributions from numerous artists.

A sense of transcendent awe pervades Sleeping at Last’s Atlas: Year One, evoked with soaring melodic lines and shimmering, exquisitely layered arrangements. The work of studio auteur Ryan O’Neal, these 30 tracks (drawn from six previously released EPs) combine folk, classical, and pop motifs with haunting meditations on family ties, the wonders of the natural world, and the eternal nature of the Spirit. From the compassionate «I’ll Keep You Safe» and the nostalgic «Heirloom» to the billowing «Jupiter» and the thoughtful «West», the album achieves a widescreen grandeur that doesn’t hide the fine details of O’Neal’s lyrical vision.
