Simple Praise

Description

Simple Praise is an acoustic instrumental album by the American singer and songwriter Buddy Greene (credited Buddy Greene & Friends), released on Fortress Records in 1996. The album was recorded at Dark Horse Studios in Franklin, Wildwood Studio in Brentwood, and at Cameleon Sounds and Shiloh Recording Studio in Nashville, Tennessee; with Buddy Greene producing. It is considered a follow-up to Greene’s 1987 instrumental effort, Praise Harmonica.

The album basically is an instrumental collection of hymns and gospel duets featuring Buddy Greene on harmonica and David Huntsinger on piano. A few tracks also feature Don Potter and John Darnall on guitars, Craig Nelson on upright bass, and Eric Darken on percussion.

What I hope to have accomplished is this: Create a simple sanctuary for these old familiar songs to inspire the listener to relax and pull aside from the clutter, busy-ness and noise of modern existence; and to read the lyrics – maybe even sing along – and hear the Gospel again: hopefully, to be encouraged to join all creation in simple and pure praise of the one true, triune God – Eternal Father, Our Great Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, the Spirit of Life. My thanks to all of the talented friends who brought so much to this project and helped me realize that my favorite music is the music of the church.
