Six String Prayers is a collaboration side project by the American singer and songwriter Bob Bennett and award winning guitarist John Standefer, independently released in 2007. The album was produced and recorded by John Standefer. Mixed and mastered by Kevin Nettleingham. Featuring covers of “All the Diamonds” by Bruce Cockburn, “Thankful Boys and Girls” by Billy Crockett and Milton Brasher-Cunningham, “Psalm 5” by Bill Sprouse, “Awaken Me” by Bill Batstone, and “I Love You Lord” by Laurie Klein, among others.
Six String Prayers is my 2007 release with guitarist extraordinaire John Standefer. This collection marks our first recorded collaboration and is an interesting musical departure for both of us. Normally my guitar is front and center on all my recordings. Here, I play on two tracks. My focus is singing to John’s amazing guitar arrangements and creative accompaniment on the album’s eleven songs.
John has a string of wonderful instrumental albums and many years of concert appearances and guitar workshops across the country. Six String Prayers is the first time he’s recorded an entire album with a vocalist. [Bob Bennett]
