Angie & Debbie Winans

Description

The self-titled debut album by the American contemporary R&B duo Angie & Debbie Winans was released on Capitol Records in 1993. The album was produced and engineered by various producers and engineers at various studios in Los Angeles, California (Scotland Yard Studios, Oakshire Recorders, Larrabee Sound Studios); Nashville, Tennessee (Quad Studios, Money Pit, Treasure Isle Studios); and Oak Park, Michigan (Vanguard Recording Studios).

The first release from the youngest sisters of BeBe and CeCe Winans. The album is produced by BeBe and definitely qualifies as good radio friendly pop, ranging from soul dance tracks such as «Simply A Fanatic» to Whitney Houston-style ballads. Speaking of Whitney, the megastar appears as a guest vocalist on the very strong track «Light Of Love». The lyrics, while not being blunt, do actually say something and will speak to people if they listen. On «Light Of Love» Debbie testifies to the difference that God has made in her life and on «Father Father» they call out to God in response to the present state of the world. Let’s pray these two sisters will get a chance to witness in the charts. [Francis Blight, Cross Rhythms, December 1993]
