The Law of Gravity is the fourth album by the American singer and songwriter Andy Gullahorn, independently released on St. Jerome Music in November 2009. Andy’s wife Jill Phillips contributes two songs to the record, and Matt Stanfield and Jason Gray get co-writer credit on a couple of the songs.

Andy Gullahorn has been consistent in the quality of the songs he has written and recorded over the years, and The Law of Gravity is no exception. Andy’s wife Jill Phillips, also an outstanding singer-songwriter, contributes two songs to the record. In fact it seems that the “singer-songwriter” craft is the family business. Matt Stanfield and Jason Gray helped to co-write a couple of the songs.

Andy is not afraid to bare his soul. He is also willing to offer some biting and humorous commentary. This makes his work unpredictable and always interesting. There is a wide range of emotions and topics on The Law of Gravity.

«I Haven’t Either» is all about personal struggles and being honest with yourself:

Have you ever made a promise to yourself a thousand times?
Just to break it over and over again?
I haven’t either
Only people with problems do that sort of thing

And Jill Phillips’ words in «Any Other Way» will resonate with anyone who has had to rebuild trust in a relationship:

Gaining back the trust we lost
Was harder than just losing it
But if we wanted change at all
The pain was a prerequisite

Then there is the biting and humorous commentary of «Money Where Her Mouth Is»:

She puts her money where her mouth is
She saves her treasure for her chest
And now she’s permanently high-brow
Because that’s as far as they would stretch

The music is acoustic guitar based, well recorded and uncluttered, with beautiful harmonies and tunes that you will remember. The Law of Gravity is full of catchy tunes and thoughtful lyrics with so many good songs it is hard to pick out highlights.
