Description
The Life, sub-titled The Complete Recorded Trilogy on the Life of Christ, is a Collector’s Edition album by the American singer and songwriter Michael Card, released on Sparrow Records in 1988. Featured on two cassettes or a double-CD, The Life includes Card’s trilogy of albums on the life of Christ – Known by the Scars (1984), Scandalon (1986), and The Final Word (1987) – as well as a comprehensive Bible study book written by Card and William L. Lane. The albums were produced by Norbert Putnam.
This is not a new album from Michael Card, but rather a re-packaging of his trilogy of albums on the life of Christ – ‘Known by the Scars’ (1985), ‘Scandalon’ (1986), and ‘The Final Word’ (1987). This set is a masterwork from one of Christian music’s most gifted and literate artists.
‘Known by the Scars’, the first album of the trilogy, dealt with the end of Christ’s earthly life. Although he still sounded a lot like Dan Fogelberg here, great production (by Fogelberg’s producer, ironically), and consistently strong songwriting made this a standout album on it’s own. ‘Scandalon’ the middle release, brought more of Card’s melodic anthems and meaty lyrics to the subject of Christ’s life on earth. ‘The Final Word’ had a more classical feel in dealing with the Incarnation.
