Description

Think On These Things is the fourth album by the American singer and songwriter Janny Grein, released on Sparrow Records in 1979. The album was recorded by Bob Cotton, Hal Sacks, and Wally Duguid at Peace In The Valley in Arleta and at KSR Studios in Hollywood, California; with Billy Ray Hearn producing assisted by Bill Grein. Strings arranged by David Diggs. All songs co-written by Bill and Janny Grein except track B3 co-written by Janny and Linda Lang and tracks A1, A2, and A5 written by Janny.

Featuring members of Seawind (Larry Williams on piano, Bud Nuanez on guitar, Ken Wild on bass, and Bob Wilson on drums) and Koinonia (Harlan Rogers on organ, Hadley Hockensmith on guitar, and Bill Maxwell on drums), as well as Larry Muhoberac on piano, Mike Deasy on guitar, David Miner on bass, and Bili Thedford on percussion. Backing vocals provided by Bili Thedford, Dona Thedford, James “Arky” Felix, Perry Morgan, Phyllis St. James, Janny Grein, and Billy Ray Hearn.

One of the new faces on the burgeoning Sparrow label was singer/songwriter Janny Grein. Free Indeed introduced her mellow style through a collection of slow songs, some acoustic, some orchestrated with strings, some with gospel and light-rock touches, a few with the piano-ballad feel of Carole King. Covenant Woman contains some of her most popular songs, including «Bread On The Water» and the title track. He Made Me Worthy reveals a more rock-edged Janny on a couple of songs («Don’t Give The Devil An Opportunity», «Psalm 20»), while also leaving mild impressions of Carole King («Follow The Way Of Love», «Diamond In The Rough») and Janice Ian («Love To Me»). A lot of familiar names assisting on all of these, including 2nd Chapter Of Acts, the Talbots, Mike Deasy, Harlan Rogers, Billy Maxwell, Hadley Hockensmith, Bili Thedford, Fletch Wiley, Jessy Dixon and David Diggs.
