Description
Second Look is the third album by the American pop/rock group Hope of Glory, released on Chrism in 1977, a division of Tempo Records. Also released in the UK on Grapevine the following year. The album was recorded and mixed by Frank Kejmar at Whitney Studios in Glendale, California; with Jesse Peterson producing. Orchestration by Dave Williamson. “Lifesaver”, “Kiss of Life”, and “Only Jesus” were written by Bob Farrell of Farrel & Farrell fame (the first two were as well arranged by Farrell), while “Tell My People”, “Hope Song”, and “Someone Chased Away The Rain” were written by Danny Taylor.
Catchy, breezy and jazzy are some of the words that describe this well produced set. The rock side of the group is represented by the island flavored «Lifesaver», as well as the talk-box-enriched «Kiss Of Life». «Walkin’» and «Hope Song» are fine examples of ‘70s have-a-nice-day pop-rock, while «Someone Chased Away The Rain» supplies a smooth mellow jazz-rock groove. Still room for one pedal-steel/fiddle country holdover («Homespun Harmony»). Rounded out by a number of ballads. Some brass and sax appearances, plus a lot of string orchestration on the slower songs. Three of the titles were written by Bob Farrell, another three by Danny Taylor.
