Description
Standin’ in the Light is the solo debut album by the American soul singer and songwriter Denny Correll (February 19, 1946 – November 29, 2002) of The Blues Image fame, released on Maranatha! Music in September 1979, distributed by Word. The album was recorded and mixed by Willie Harlan at International Automated Media in Irvine, California; with Skip Konte producing. (Frank “Skip” Konte was a former bandmate of Denny Correll from The Blues Image.)
Denny Correll is backed by a session band consisting of producer Skip Konte on synthesizer, organ, and percussion, Harlan Rogers on piano, George Marinelli and Eric Turner (tracks A5, B2, and B4) on guitar, Marc Levine on bass, and John Mehler of Love Song fame on drums. Backing vocals provided by Beau MacDougall, Jay Truax, Jimmy Perez, and Sammy Allen.
Trivia: Denny Correll was an early touring member of the seminal Jesus music band Love Song, writing their tune “Changes” which later appeared on that band’s self-titled debut LP.
