Somebody Loves You is the sole album by Bob & Pauline Wilson of the American jazz-rock/fusion band Seawind, released on Myrrh Records in 1981, a division of Word. The album was recorded and mixed by Kevin Clark assisted by Norman Graichen at Golden Sound Studios in Hollywood, California; with Bob Wilson producing. Featuring all the members of Seawind as well as Paulinho Da Costa on percussion. All songs written or co-written by Bob Wilson.
As gospel music has grown and become more receptive to new styles, a whole new breed of artist has emerged. Such is the case of Bob and Pauline Wilson of Seawind. ‘Somebody Loves You’ is crossover material with tight production throughout. All songs written or co-written by Bob Wilson, who adds impressive percussion tracks to several cuts, while wife Pauline provides the vocals. [CashBox Magazine, May 2, 1981]
Bob and Pauline Wilson are the driving force behind A&M’s jazz-rock group Seawind: he, the primary songwriter; and she, the lead vocalist. Apparently feeling stifled in their attempt to express their faith through secular channels, the Wilsons signed a separate contract with Myrrh to provide a venue for explicit Christian lyrics.
Myrrh is reportedly forbidden to use the name “Seawind” in connection with this project. However, like the proverbial rose (which smells the same no matter what you call it), Seawind by any other name sounds the same. The players are there, as is the jazz-rock-funk sound typical for Seawind. But the lyrical ambiguity now sometimes found on Seawind albums has given way to titles such as «I’ll Keep My Eyes On Jesus», «In the Spirit» and «Jesus Is My Lord». Also unlike the Seawind albums, there are no instrumentals included.
As usual, Pauline’s riveting vocals are the centerpiece, accented by excellent musicianship and Bob’s classy production.
