Xavier

Description

Xavier is the solo debut album by the American singer and songwriter Greg X. Volz of Petra fame (actually the sole album credited his middle name only – Xavier), independently released on BeeJay Recording in 1982. The album was recorded by Andy DeGanahl, Bill Vermillion, and Dana Cornock at Bee Jay Recording Studios in Orlando, Florida; and was produced by Jonathan Fitzwilliam with “special assistance” from George Atwell and Xavier. Mixed by Vermillion. String arrangements by Atwell. All songs written by producer Jonathan Fitzwilliam except “Outside Lookin’ In” co-written with Jacqueline St. Laurent.

This album was released in 1982. The lead vocalist is Xavier, an alias for Petra’s lead-singer Greg X(avier) Volz. The producer is Eric Schabacker, who acted under the name Jonathan Fitzwilliam. This collection of love-songs was written by Schabacker. He was the owner of Bee Jay Recording Studios in Orlando, Florida, where Petra (with Greg X. Volz) recorded the album Washes Whiter Than. He was such a fan of Volz’ vocal capabilities that he asked him to sing on the album. Apparently Volz’ second name Xavier had also such an appeal to Shabacker that he named the album such. Also the studio musicians that played on Washes Whiter Than were hired for this recording (Atwell, Balin, Meyers, Nichols).
