Description

Wendell is the debut album by the American singer and songwriter Wendell Burton (July 21, 1947 – May 30, 2017), released on Lamb & Lion Records in March 1978, distributed by Word. The album was recorded by Jack Joseph Puig, Dennis Drake, and Buck Herring at United Western Studios in Hollywood, MartinSound Studios in Alhambra, and Buckskin Studio in Northridge, California; with Dan Collins producing. Mixed by Puig and Jonathan David Brown at Studio 55 in Los Angeles. Strings arranged by Jim Stipech. All songs written by Wendell Burton except track A2 co-written with James Sundquist.

Wendell Burton is backed by a session band featuring core members Dave Siebels on keyboards, Art Munson on guitar, Jim Fielder on bass, and Chet McCracken on drums, with Rick Cantu on percussion. Organ, synthesizer, and string harp provided by Richard Souther; saxophone provided by Mike Carnahan; acoustic and electric mandolin as well as fiddle provided by Larry Myers; and steel guitar provided by Al Perkins. Tracks A1, B1, and B4 feature Keith Green on acoustic piano. Background vocals provided by Jamie Owens Collins and Dan Collins as well as Wendell Burton’s sister Hazel. Strings by Sid Sharp Strings.
