Description
Such Love is an album by the American singer and songwriter Tony Goodwin, independently released on Third Day Power in 1980. The album was recorded at Sun-Dwyer Studio in Highland, California; with James Felix of Andraé Crouch & The Disciples fame producing. All songs composed by Tony Goodwin.
Likable soft rock guy with some catchy songs and a fair amount of electric guitar (courtesy of James Felix and Sweet Comfort Band’s Randy Thomas). Some of these songs sound like they could have served time on 1980 pop radio, somewhere in between Christopher Cross, Robbie Dupree and Jackson Browne, especially the opening «Someone’s Calling». The title song manages a decent melding of rock, funk and jazz, with just a twinge of disco. «Heart Of The Matter» is close behind with its smooth-n-easy jazz groove. «Carpenter» is a strong ballad featuring a nice build-up of electric guitar, including Keaggy-like volume pedal effects. Also some easygoing acoustic-oriented tunes and MOR ballads. Tony’s on lead vocals and acoustic guitar. Female backup vocals on several tracks. Produced by James Felix. Independent release from West Covina, California. [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th edition]
