Description
Glass Castle is the debut album by the American pop group The Boones (a.k.a. The Boone Girls, a quartet of gospel-singing siblings: Cherry, Lindy, Laury and Debby Boone), released on Lamb & Lion Records in 1976. (Later re-issued under the new title The Boone Girls, featuring different cover artwork.) The album was recorded by Gil Weber at Sunwest Recording Studios in Hollywood, California; with Tom Stipe of Country Faith, Wing & A Prayer and the Richie Furay Band fame producing. Mixed by Bill Schnee at Sound Labs in Hollywood. Arranged by Michael Omartian with vocals arranged by Tom Stipe and the Boone girls.
The Boone Girls are backed by Michael Omartian on keyboards, Lee Ritenour, John Wickham, Jon Linn, and David Diggs on guitar, Scott Edwards, Jay Truax, and Dave McDaniel on bass, John Mehler on drums, and Alex MacDougall on percussion, with Ira Raibon providing tenor saxophones solos.
Featuring a cover of the Dogwood classic “Water Grave”, a song written by Steve Chapman and recorded on Dogwood’s 1975 debut album After the Flood, Before the Fire. Also featuring two song written by by Bill Sprouse Jr. of The Road Home fame; “Time For Dyin'” and “Glass Castle”.
Trivia: The Boones was the group that graced the cover of the first-ever issue of Contemporary Christian Music Magazine (best known as simply CCM Magazine) in 1978.
