Finish Line

Description

Finish Line is the fourth album by the American singer, songwriter, and guitarist Robin Crow (a.k.a. Robin Runge), independently released on Sherwood Records in 1983. The album was recorded and mixed October – December 1982 at Mountain Ears Studio in Boulder, Colorado; with Jim Mason producing for Next Coast Productions. Engineered by Jim Mason, John Aldridge, Ralph Carpenter, and Steve Taylor.

Featuring Robin Crow on guitars and vocals backed by Ron Guzek on keyboards and bass synthesizer as well as vocals, and Joshua Slack on drums as well as acoustic guitar and vocals. (“Robin’s close friendship with drummer Joshua Slack goes back over twenty years and together they form the nucleus of the “Robin Crow Band”.” – Note on the insert) Guest vocals by Richie Furay, Maggie Downs, Maggie Shively, and “30 kids from the Arcade down the street.” Guest Larry Wilkins appears on electric guitar.

Recorded in the fall of 1982. A bit later entry that puts me in the mind of Jeff Johnson with the use of guitars and some synthesizers. Most of the vocals are by Robin but later in the 80’s he worked only on instrumental albums with his guitar playing at the forefront. All originals songs with the exception of a cover of Larry Norman’s «Outlaw». A very enjoyable listen all the way through and very well done. [Ozark Ken]
