Some Beautiful Day, sub-titled A Rock Celebration of the Life of a Dreamer named Jesus, is an album by the American composers Pete Levin and Bill Comeau, released on Avant Garde Records in 1970. (Music composed by Pete Levin. Libretto composed by Bill Comeau.) Also released in the UK the same year. The album was engineered by Bill Lobb with Pete Levin producing. (“Produced by Perception, Inc. for Avant Garde.”) Directed by Frank Geraci. Special effects by Alan Cagan. “Written, arranged and produced by Bill Comeau and Pete Levin for P R Records, Inc., a subsidiary of Perception, Inc.”

Did you ever wonder if Christians could write and record their feelings about the Lord in the style of Greenwich Village? Can ideas be artistically cunning and remain godly? “Some Beautiful Day” confirms that the answer is yes!
Poetry set to music is such a creative media, yet has been virtually untouched in Jesus Music since David wrote the Psalms. One important exception is this life story of Christ by Bill Comeau.
Comeau’s use of humor and lyric shows Jesus as a dreamer; the dream is that man would want to be reconciled to God, through Him. Sometimes the view is from those who despised Him, and you can see the skepticism that they probably at first felt about Jesus. Yet everything expressed is right on.
The music, by Pete Levin, changes with each mood from jazz to rock to blues. It is well performed and is a perfect partner to the poetry.
The amazing thing about this record, is that it was released in 1970! Yet there is no other Jesus album like it.
The thought, talent, and spirit poured into “Some Beautiful Day” is astounding. You owe yourself a listen!
