The Acoustic Set: A Live Recording is a Limited Edition seven-track acoustic live CD-EP by the American singer, songwriter, and keyboardist Michael W. Smith, released on Reunion Records in 2000, manufactured and distributed in the US by Provident Music Distribution. The EP was recorded on June 17, 2000 at the Living Word Church in Middletown, Ohio. (Live production by House Audio Engineer Eric Elwell and Monitor Engineer Shane Hamill.) Additional recording by Joel Singer at On Site Recording in Hudson, Ohio. Post production/mix by Lynn Fuston at 3D Audio in Franklin, Tennessee.
Featuring Michael W. Smith on piano, acoustic guitar, and vocals, backed by Chris Rodriguez on acoustic guitar and vocals with Raymond Boyd providing djembe, bongos, and hand percussion.
Freedom, Michael W. Smith’s first full-length album consisting of instrumentals only, was released in 2000 on Reunion Records. The promotional live EP, The Acoustic Set: A Live Recording, was available as a pre-order bonus, according to a note in the November 18, 2000 issue of Billboard Magazine.
