Description
The self-titled an sole record by the British R&B/gospel combo The Overcomers, a four-track 7-inch vinyl EP, was released on Key Records in 1969 (Catalog Number KE001). This British all black group with Jamaican style were influenced by James Brown and the late 60’s beat groups in the UK. The Overcomers also played in Europe and remain one of the early pioneers of UK Black Gospel.
One of group members, Errol Meade, later became member of the UK gospel-funk group Kainos that released a full-length album entitled Changing on Tempus Records in 1978. (Kainos was as well featured on the Greenbelt Live soundtrack album released in 1979.)
