Well of Life – Come to the Well

Description

Come to the Well is an album by the American folk group Well of Life, self-released in 1977. The album was recorded by Jeff Laurence at Studio 70 in Tampa, Florida. Post-production and mixing by Wayne Billingsley. Well of Life is a part of Church of The Incarnation in Tampa.

Touching collection of delicate acoustic songs lovingly enveloped with soft floating male/female harmonies. Original songs like «You Are Mine», «Jesus Jesus», «The Living Water» and «Just For Me» create an uplifting folk/praise presence, leaving off and on impressions of groups like Ellis & Lynch, Valley Of Achor, God Unlimited and the Medical Mission Sisters. The tracks featuring just female vocals are especially charming, including «What Happened To Your Hand Lord?», «A Bright And Holy Place», the haunting «Gentle Pastures» and the beautiful minor-key ballads «Seek Me First» and «The Answer Is You Jesus». Background instruments are usually just one or two acoustic guitars, maybe bass, plus occasional bell or tambourine. Nice cover painting of Jesus with the woman at the well. Private press from Tampa, Florida. [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th edition]
