The Heavens Shall Declare: The Songs of Geoff Bullock is a multi-artist project featuring covers of various songs by the Australian worship songwriter Geoff Bullock of Hillsong fame, released in Australia on Heartland Records in 1993. Also released in the UK on Alliance and in the US on HeartCry Records, a division of Word Records & Music (featuring different cover artwork and eleven tracks only). The album was recorded in both Australia and the USA – at Nightlight Studios in New South Wales and at Tone Zone Recording in Chicago, Illinois. Mixed at Nightlight Studios. Edited and mastered by Don Bartley at EMI Studios 301 in Sydney, Australia. Compiled by Geoff Bullock and executive producer Peter Beveridge.
Geoff Bullock is undoubtedly one of the premiere songwriters and worship leaders in contemporary praise and worship emanating from Australia. Presently, he serves as worship pastor at Hills Christian Life Centre in Sydney. This recording is a collection of many of Geoff’s most popular songs, recorded by him an other anointed singers and musicians from “Down Under.” [Note printed on the back of the US version CD]
Since we first heard those Australian praise albums with credits like Hillsongs and Youth Alive, we’ve been aware that some of the meatiest and most impassioned worship songs are stemming from a bespectacled Antipedean called Geoff Bullock. Now this compilation has helpfully brought together all his gems ranging from the 1988 ‘Spirit And Truth’ Hillsongs album through to the 1993 title track. As has been commented on before, the Australians have a more contemporary approach to praise than the Brits or Americans and there is plenty of top rat musos evident here like David Holmes, Randall Waller, Peter Beveridge etc. My favourite cut is the newly recorded «We Need Reviving» with a breathtaking lead vocal from Darlene Zschech.
