Description
Swimming in a Human Ocean is the sixth and final album by the Canadian rock band Servant, released on Myrrh Records in October 1985, a division of Word. Also manufactured and distributed by A&M Records. The album was recorded the Summer of 1985 by David Schober at Grand Slam Studios in West Orange, New Jersey; at Quad Recording Studios i Manhattan, New York; and as well at Sandy Cove Retreat Center in Maryland (using a mobile sound studio); with Dave Perkins producing. Mixed at Quad Recording Studios.
The album features lead vocals by original member Sandie Brock as well as new male vocalist Eric Odell (who had replaced former lead vocalist Bob Hardy in December of 1984). Three singles were released to CHR radio including “Look Through His Eyes”, “Love Never Fails” and the top ten CHR hit “I Will”, the latter featuring the new male lead vocalist Odell.
Servant’s final concert was held in 1990 in Banff, Alberta, Canada. Owen and Sandie Brock, the only remaining members of the original band constellation, began a new phase of their own lives and ministry, while the other members of Servant at that time (guitarist Ric Hordinski, bassist Linford Detweiler, and drummer Brian Kelley) regrouped to form Over the Rhine.
