Description
Stumbling Heavenward is an album by the Canadian pop/rock duo Salmond & Mulder (Roy Salmond and Mike Mulder), released in 1979 on Light Records in the US and on Image VII in Canada. The album was recorded by Jack Joseph Puig at Martinsound Studios in Alhambra, California; with Dan Collins producing. Mixed by Collins and Puig. All songs written by Salmond & Mulder.
At their coolest Roy Salmond and Mike Mulder muster up some satisfying cruising country rock and crunchy r&r with choice guitar leads. Less of interest are the typical radio-ready MOR ballads. In between are a few likable orchestrated tunes in the Seals & Crofts, America and CSN direction. Clean production. Familiar names in the credits include Tom Howard, Al Perkins, Jamie Owens-Collins and Nellie Ward. US pressing has a photo of the twosome on the cover. The Canadian release bears the title Stumbling Heavenward and has a picture of a paint-splattered tennis shoe. [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th Edition]
