The front cover of this definitely gives a “1980s John Cougar Mellencamp” vibe. And if you think of the poppier side of Mellencamp instead of the rootsier side, that is a good starting point. There are still some rootsy and bluesy elements to the music, so this is still rock. It just leans more to the pop side than the hard rock side. This really kind of personifies what was happening a lot in the mid-1980s: throw a little bit of everything out there, just not too far out of the ordinary. Well, I say it’s not hard rock, and then songs «Never Say It» and «Real Time» get close. Like I said: it was the 80s. Some people threw everything in. Ginn does it well, so if you are a fan of that era, take a listen below. There is a second tape after this one, but little is know about it. He is still releasing music, as well as working as a musician-scholar that shares indigenous histories and worldviews through his music. [Christian Tape Underground, March 7, 2026]
