Description
The self-titled and sophomore full-length album by the British indie folk trio Wildwood Kin was released on Sony Music in October 2019.
This eponymous second album from Devon-based trio Wildwood Kin starts with sisters Beth and Emillie Key and their cousin Meghann Loney’s trademark ethereal harmonies on «Never Alone» and, by the time the drums kick in a minute or so later, you know you’re in for a sonic treat. Full of assured indie-style musings, the intertwined vocals of the girls set to producer Ian Grimble’s faultless musical backdrop (which knows exactly when to ebb and flow) allows these deep and meaningful songs of love, loss and spirituality to flow freely. For those in the know, tracks like «All On Me» and «Beauty In Your Brokenness» gently point towards the cross without getting specific whilst new aspects of this captivating release emerge with every listen. Of course, songwriting help from the likes of Gabrielle Aplin, Angelo Petraglia and Alex Davies doesn’t hurt but it’s clear that this West Country threesome have got more than enough ability to stand on their own six feet.
