Reflex

Description

The self-titled, sophomore album by the Norwegian gospel choir Reflex was released on the Norwegian gospel label Storm Production in 1985, distributed by Master Music. The album tracks were recorded by Claes Persson at Glen Studio in Stockholm, Sweden; with Finn Pedersen of Good News fame and Svein Gundersen producing for Storm Production A/S. Vocals recorded by Rolf Kjernet and Kenneth Moen at Arne Bendiksen Studio in Oslo, Norway. (Album recorded between May 23, and June 2, 1985.) Digitally mixed by Mogens Bjergby at Custom Sound Lab in Copenhagen, Denmark. Instrumental tracks arranged by Svein Gundersen in co-operation with Finn Pedersen, choir conductor Martin Alfsen, and the session band, with vocals arranged by Alfsen.

The choir is backed by a session band consisting of musicians from both Norway and Sweden: Kjetil Bjerkestrand and Peter Ljung on keyboards, and a rhythm section featuring three Abba sidemen – Lasse Wellander on guitar, Rutger Gunnarsson on bass, and Per Lindvall on drums; with Arild Stav providing saxophone and flute. Guest vocals by Hilde Kjeldsen and Jan Groth.

Våren 1984 ble sangere fra Reflex spurt om å være med på originalfremførelsene av musikalen Exodus skrevet av Svein Gundersen og Finn Pedersen. Gundersen og Pedersen ble begeistret over korets innsats og samarbeidet resulterte i LP-utgivelsen «Reflex» på labelen til Storm Productions. Platen forelå sommeren 1985 og ble Reflexs “gjennombrudds utgivelse”. Det ble den første gospelkorplaten som entret Dagblad-listen og sangen «Aldri mer Hiroshima» fra platen var stadig å høre i NRK og var også innom «Norsktoppen».
