That’s Why I Long for Tomorrow – b/w “How Do You Know” – is a two-sided 7-inch vinyl single by the Norwegian singer and songwriter Jan Groth, the title track being a duet with Alex, released in 1984, manufactured and distributed by Leon Music under license from Refuge Records (catalogue number LMS 125). (“Leon Music is a division of ICT Records Inc., Los Angeles, CA, USA.”) Both tracks were taken from Groth’s full-length album Roots released on Refuge Records the same year, distributed by The Benson Company in the US. The album was recorded by Steve Forward at Redan Recorders in London, England; with Jan Groth and Ray Nenow producing. Mixed by Johnny Shines at Redan Recorders. Arranged by Groth “with good help from all the musicians on the album.” Both songs written by Jan Groth.
The title track is a duet with the Norwegian-Polish singer Alex (Alexandra Naumik Sandøy), and features three members of the American southern rock band The Outlaws (Freddie Salem on guitar and a rhythm section consisting of Rick Cua and David Dix on bass and drums respectively), with the Swedish keyboardist Per-Erik Hallin sitting in on piano.
On the track featured on the flip-side Jan Groth is backed by a British session band consisting of Norman Barratt on guitar (of Gravy Train and Barratt Band fame) and a rhythm section consisting of Dave Markee and Henry Spinetti on bass and drums respectively (known as the rhythm section of Eric Clapton Band ca 1980).
