Description
Gospel Truth is the sophomore album by the American pop/rock band One Truth, released on Greentree Records in 1977. The album was recorded by Ken Suesov and band member Smitty Price at Sound House in North Hollywood, California; with the band producing. Mixed by Smitty Price at Great Circle Sound in Nashville, Tennessee. Horns, reeds, and strings arranged by Price.
Actually not a bad follow-up here with a few jazz and symphonic touches that recall early Glad. Good electric guitar from Randy Butler when he gets the chance, like on «Double-Minded Man», the lengthy «One Day At A Time», the boogie-struttin’ «Way Up High» and the Sweet Comfort Band-ish funk-tinged title track. Mellow ballads like «God-Man» and «Reprise (Once Not So Long Ago)» benefit from being awash in dreamy synths and lush harmonies. Still a few hyper-easy orchestrated cuts, but this is the Greentree label after all. Pleasantly surprised I was. [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th edition]
