Michael W. Smith 2 is the sophomore album by the American singer, songwriter, and keyboardist Michael W. Smith, released on Reunion Records in February 1984, distributed by Word. The album was recorded by Jack Joseph Puig at The Bennett House in Franklin, Tennessee; at Tree International Studio and Bullett Recording Studio in Nashville, Tennessee; and at Mama Jo’s Recording Studio in North Hollywood, California; with Michael W. Smith producing. Mixed by Puig.
Featuring guest vocals by Amy Grant and Gary Chapman on “Restless Heart” and “A Way”, respectably. The album won a Grammy in the Best Gospel Performance, Male category at the 27th Annual Grammy Awards. According to CCM Magazine, Michael W. Smith 2 was the 5th best selling album of 1984 in the Christian music market, and as well the 10th best selling album the following year. The album track “I Am Sure” was later covered by Deniece Williams on her 1988-album, As Good As It Gets.
