Description
Master of the Metal is the sophomore album by the American metal band Messiah Prophet, released on Pure Metal Records in 1986, distributed by Refuge Music Group. The album was recorded and mixed at Susquehanna Sound Studios in Northumberland, Pennsylvania; with Bill Grabowski producing.
Like the titan forging a guitar from raw metal portrayed on this album’s cover, the members of Messiah Prophet work together like complementary alloys to create a tight, solid sound. No one is the star here; the whole is clearly greater than the sum of its parts.
The result is a second album with eight solid songs in the Judas Priest vein. These cuts praise Jesus («Master of the Metal»), reject Satan («Fear No Evil»), and – in an unusual step for metal – urge Christian compassion for wounded hearts and crying eyes («Hit and Run»). This is an unapologetically Christian and undeniably rocking release. [Devlin Donaldson and Steve Rabey, CCM, May 1987]
