Description

Read is the sophomore album by the American alternative rock band Curious Fools, released on Gotee Records in 1997. The album was recorded by Donnie Bott at Alex The Great in Nashville, Tennessee; with the band producing. Mixed by Bott and Brad Jones at Alex The Great.

The first thing I thought when I played this album was, “Has the standard of CCM gone up?” All the albums I have reviewed recently have been excellent and ‘{read}’, the Curious Fools” second album, is quite outstanding. There is just over an hour of wonderful guitar-driven rock from this Nashville-based four piece. The sound varies from early 77s through early U2 to a more modern Bon Jovi and closes with a blues cover of the Moby Grape song «Murder». Everything on this album works, from the slow, quiet solo on «Gold» to the strident «Love (Is Believing)» and is capped off with lyrics that will make anyone think. The same thought that has gone into the polished production has been put into the packaging with a sleeve that would not look out of place on a cool Internet web site and an eye catching red case.
