Reggae Worship, Volume One is an album by the American reggae combo Christafari, released on Frontline Records in 1993. The album was recorded by Drew Aldridge and Chris Colbert at The Mixing Lab in Garden Grove, California; and was produced by the band with Terry Taylor of Daniel Amos fame co-producing. Mixed by Aldridge at The Mixing Lab. Drums programmed by Rob Watson. Featuring backing vocals by Riki Michele of Adam Again fame.

After seeing the praise & worship genre grow to include pop, rock, jazz and even rave, reggae is one of the last styles to be adpated to the worship format. What may have prevented the music from penetrating the Christian market has been the close association of reggae with Rastafarianism, the Jamaican religious cult. But Christafari (who chose that name on purpose) definitely plays 100 percent, biblically-based, scripturally sound praise & worship. For the most part, this music is straight out of the Kingston, Jamaica ghetto, only slightly sanitized for your protection (a reference point would be the British band UB 40). Most of the infectious tunes were written by the group, although it includes familiar choruses, such as «Praise the Name of Jesus» and «Majesty» and does a credible re-make of Michael (violet burning) Pritzl’s well-known «The Blood of Jesus». Hot horn charts abound, as does the familiar choppy guitar, heavy bass and off-kilter rhythms associated with reggae; the band even gets into toasting (the reggae equivalent of rap). If you like to move your feet while you worship, you’ll probably dig Christafari. [Bruce A. Brown, CCM, February 1994]
